Posted online
The 1 percent sales tax check for August presented to the city by the Missouri Department of Revenue was $1.89 million, a 2.6 percent decrease compared to $1.94 million in the same month of the previous fiscal year, according to a city news release.

The August check - representing collections from previous months - is the second for the city's fiscal year, which began July 1.

Two months into fiscal 2012, however, the city has collected $5.8 million in sales tax revenue, a 5 percent increase compared to $5.5 million brought in by August of fiscal 2010. The difference is roughly $278,000.
