City's April sales tax check up 8.2%

The city of Springfield's 1 percent sales tax check for April is up 8.2 percent to $3.7 million, compared to revenue of $3.5 million in April 2010, according to a city news release.

The city's 1 percent sales tax checks from the Missouri Department of Revenue represent money collected during the previous month.

The city's 1 percent sales tax check for March, representing tax collections from February, was $2.6 million.

Fiscal 2011 year-to-date tax revenue is $30.4 million, 1.7 percent higher than $29.9 million collected by the same month in fiscal 2010.

Springfield's fiscal year ends in June.
