City to present final College Street Corridor concept

Posted online
Principal City Planner Vern Morgan is scheduled tomorrow to present the final concept plan for the College Street Corridor project.

The meeting is scheduled for noon on the fourth floor conference room of the Busch Municipal Building.

The initiative would rehabilitate the corridor, an area defined as College, Olive and Walnut streets between Grant Avenue and Kansas Expressway. Ideas and planning for the corridor have come largely from meetings with the public - residents, property and business owners and city officials, according to a news release.

The plan calls for a plaza, streetscapes, gateways and a roadside park commemorating Route 66. A Hy-Vee fundraiser recently raised roughly $1,000 to build a replica of the Red's Giant Hamburg sign within the park.

Morgan has previously said funding would be determined once the plan is finalized.
