While the city's October sales tax check from the Missouri Department of Revenue decreased from the previous month, it shows increases from the same month last year and on a year-to-date basis.

The city's 1 percent check revenue, which covers purchases during the previous month, was $3.2 million in October, down 18 percent from the September check amount of $3.9 million, according to figures provided by the city of Springfield Finance Department.

The fiscal 2011 October check is up 7.41 percent compared to the $3 million collected in the same month in fiscal 2010.

Since fiscal 2011 started in July, the worst collection came in the August check - $1.9 million.

During fiscal 2011, the city's total 1 percent tax revenue is up 3.96 percent to $12.6 million, compared to $12.2 million in the first four months of fiscal 2010.[[In-content Ad]]
