City tax revenue drops during October

Posted online
Springfield's 1 percent sales tax check for roughly $2 million for November from the Missouri Department of Revenue was down 5.52 percent compared to the same time last year, according to a city news release. The November check covers purchases from October.

By comparison, the November 2009 check was about $2.1 million.

The November check also decreased from collections represented in the October check, which was $3.2 million, and from the September check, $3.9 million, according to Springfield Business Journal coverage.

The November check was a cut above the worst collection check of the city's fiscal year. Since fiscal 2011 started in July, the worst collection came in the August check for $1.9 million.

Year-to-date sales tax revenue, however, is up 2.58 percent from the previous fiscal year, the release said.[[In-content Ad]]
