The city of Springfield Jan. 31 re-ceived the Corporate Humanitarian of the Year Award from the United Way. According to a United Way news release, the award has been presented only twice before.
The Corporate Humanitarian Award acknowledges companies and organizations that exemplify "the highest standards of community service, and is the highest honor that the United Way of the Ozarks can bestow on the company and its employees," the release stated.
Also presented at the United Way's annual meeting were the Outstanding Agency Executive Award, which went to Cheryl Searcy of the American Red Cross, Greater Ozarks Chapter.
Jack Stack of SRC Holdings and Tim Bellanti of Associated Wholesale Gro-cers also were introduced as chairmen of the 2002 United Way Campaign.
