The 1 percent sales tax check for June presented to the city of Springfield from the Missouri Department of Revenue was $3.45 million, a 5.4 percent increase compared to $3.3 million received in June of fiscal 2010, according to a city news release.
June is the final month in the city's 2011 fiscal year, which ends June 30. Year-to-date sales tax revenue collections totaled $36.2 million, a 2.3 percent increase compared to fiscal 2010, which brought in $35.4 million.
The city's sales tax checks represent collections from previous months. The sales tax check for July, the first month of fiscal 2012, will represent collections from June and likely May of fiscal 2011, said Nancy Prine, senior executive secretary for the city of Springfield Finance Department.
