The city of Springfield is taking sealed bids for a fifth group of surplus properties up for sale.
The fifth group is the largest thus far, with 14 properties up for bid. Most of the properties have reserve prices, reflecting the amount the city needs to cover its costs and not the fair market value of the property.
Eleven of the properties for bid are zoned single-family residential:
916 S. Market Ave., with a reserve price of $12,000;
2632 W. Brower St., with a reserve price of $15,000;
827 S. Weaver Ave, with a reserve price of $15,000;
1447 N. Fremont Ave., with a reserve price of $9,000;
917 N. Douglas Ave., with a reserve of $7,000;
1221 S. Crutcher Ave., with a reserve of $10,000 (this is an unplatted lot but does have a clear title); and
1229, 1223, 1230, 1236 and 1242 S. Willow Lane., all with no reserve and all located in a sinkhole area.
Other properties are a commercial services district lot at 900 W. College St. with a reserve price of $14,000; a multifamily residential lot at 1516 N. Grant Ave. with a reserve price of $12,000; and a general manufacturing lot at 4126 W. Junction St. with a reserve of $10,000.
Bids will be accepted until 3 p.m., Feb. 17, and complete bid documents are available on the city Web site home page.
Net proceeds from the property sales will go back to the fund from which each property was purchased, up to the amount of the purchase price; additional funds have been pledged to the city's Police and Fire Pension Fund.
