Two longtime employees of the city of Nixa have been promoted to leading roles in the police and parks departments.

Police chief
During its Wednesday meeting, Nixa City Coucil approved Jimmy Liles as chief of the Nixa Police Department, according to a news release.

Liles has served as interim chief since Nov. 5, when James Bacon retired from law enforcement.

Liles has worked for Nixa Police for 14 years and in law enforcement for 15 years.

“Jimmy has done a tremendous job leading the department the last few months,” Nixa Mayor Sam Clifton said in the release. “He’s a natural fit for this position, and we look forward to him leading the department for many years to come.”

Liles is slated to be officially sworn in during Nixa council's March 17 meeting. He will earn a salary of $63,146, according to city spokeswoman Jill Finney.

Parks and rec
The Nixa Parks Department announced this week it chose its former recreational services manager to fill its top leadership role.

Matt Crouse, who has worked full time nearly 10 years for the city of Nixa, was named director of Nixa Parks, according to the release.

He succeeds former Director Scott Garrie, who resigned in early January.

First starting out as a part-time worker, Crouse moved to full time with the Parks Department to serve as a recreation specialist and aquatics manager for nine years before serving as recreational services manager, the release said.

In his new position, Crouse will earn $55,000 a year, Finney said.[[In-content Ad]]
