The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. in City Council chambers at Historic City Hall.
Citizens are invited to share with the committee members the qualities and characteristics they’d like to see in Springfield’s next city manager. City Manager Bob Cumley will retire June 1.
Each citizen will have about three minutes to address the search committee, according to a city news release. The town hall meeting will run until 6:45 p.m. If necessary, the committee will schedule another meeting to give interested parties an opportunity to comment, as the regular City Council meeting will start at 7 p.m.
There are other ways, however, that Springfieldians can submit comments regarding the city manager search. A short survey is available on the city Web site, www.springfieldmo.gov; citizens also can sign up for updates on the search process on the Web site. Written comments also can be mailed to the City Clerk’s office, PO Box 8368, Springfield, MO 65801.
The town hall meeting will air live on TV23, the city’s government-access station available to Mediacom subscribers, and will be available for viewing later on the city Web site.
The search committee comprises 21 members, including community representatives and city staff members. Four subcommittees have been created to address hiring a professional search firm, developing the job description based largely on community input, developing the compensation package for the position and developing community information for prospective candidates.
