Several dozen people turned out for the “Coffee with the Candidates” event put on by the city.
Another opportunity to meet the finalists is an ice cream social at 5:45–7 p.m. today at the Phelps Grove Park pavilion. The park is between National and Kimbrough avenues north of Bennett Street.
The three city manager candidates are: Greg Burris, vice president for administrative and information services at Missouri State University (pictured at top, with Springfield R-XII School District Superintendent Norm Ridder, left); Kent Myers, city manager of Hot Springs, Ark. The trio arrived in Springfield on Sunday, and today they are going through a series of interviews with City Council and the city’s management team, according to a news release. The city expects to announce a hiring decision this week.
