City investigates court discrepancy

Posted online
The city of Springfield said today it is conducting an investigation into a financial discrepancy in the Municipal Court.

Two Municipal Court employees have been placed on administrative leave with pay until the investigation is complete. The preliminary investigation indicates it involves a substantial amount of money paid to the court that may have been misappropriated.

The city would not name the employees or the amount of funding involved, nor would it comment further on the case.

The investigation is being conducted by the city manager’s office, the finance department and the human resources department. The Police Department also has opened an investigation.[[In-content Ad]]
