The collection will be 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at the center, 3020 S. Lone Pine.
On hand will be the Computer Recycling Center – the only state-certified electronic waste recycler – to collect microwaves, computers, computer accessories, VCRs, camcorders, TVs and cell phones. A $10 disposal fee will be charged for computer monitors, TVs and microwaves.

Also Saturday, as part of the city’s Earth Day celebration, Springfield will be recognized as a Tree City USA for the 22nd consecutive year by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Earth Day is Sunday.
Tim Stanton, regional supervisor of Forestry for the Missouri Department of Conservation, will present City Councilwoman Mary Collette with the award at 10 a.m. at the Discovery Center, 438 St. Louis Street. The city will receive two bronze medallions as well as its seventh Tree City Growth Award.
The Tree City USA designation recognizes city activities during 2006. Standards for the award included having a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive urban forestry program and an Arbor Day observance.
The Tree City Growth Award honors the city for demonstrating progress in its community forestry program through education and activities, a local awards program, continuing education for tree managers and an arborist workshop.[[In-content Ad]]
