Speakers Mayor Tom Carlson, Director of the Center for Applied Science and Engineering at Jordan Valley Innovation Center Ryan Giedd, and city Director of Public Works Marc Thornsberry will be on hand for the 2 p.m. ceremony at JVIC, 524 N. Boonville Ave.
The $468,000 project – which came in $25,000 under budget – was funded by a $250,000 competitive grant from the Federal Highway Administration Enhancement program and a voter-approved 1/8-cent sales tax for transportation, according to a city news release. Changes include sidewalk improvements necessary for pedestrian safety and accessibility, utility work, new lighting, banner arms and plantings.
The project is the third phase in Boonville’s streetscape improvements. Phase IV has been approved for an enhancement grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation to extend streetscape improvements to Chestnut Expressway, visually connecting downtown to Springfield City Hall and the Greene County Courthouse.
Phase III’s general contractor was Hunter Chase & Associates, and the landscape architect and engineer was Scott Consulting Engineers.
