City auditor takes executive position at airport

Posted online
City of Springfield internal auditor Kristy Bork has accepted an executive role at Springfield-Branson National Airport.

Bork is slated to begin April 8 as assistant director of aviation, responsible for the finance and administration of the Springfield airport, according to a news release. She succeeds Mark Roy, who retired Jan. 14 after about 15 years with the airport, according to SGF spokesman Kent Boyd.

“Since the airport is a hybrid of government and the private sector, her experience in government and business will be particularly valuable," SGF Director of Aviation Brian Weiler said of Bork in the release.

Bork's starting salary is $71,370, Boyd said.

Bork has served as the city's internal auditor since 2010, after working about six years with BKD LLP as a supervisor accountant. City spokeswoman Cora Scott said a new internal auditor has not yet been chosen. The mayor is leading the process, with help from the city's human resources department, to select a successor to Bork, who will report to City Council.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity City Council gave me to be the city’s internal auditor, and proud of the work that was accomplished while I was in the position,” Bork said in the release. “I am ready for a new challenge and look forward to exciting things ahead at the airport.”

The city-owned airport is governed by an 11-member administrative board, the members of which are appointed by the city manager, according to FlySpringfield.org.

Board members are:
  • Richard Bottorf, chairman;
  • Brent Singleton, vice chairman;
  • John Whittington, secretary;
  • Brian VanFosson, assistant secretary;
  • Tom Babik;
  • Thomas Barr;
  • Richard Cravens;
  • Howard Fisk;
  • Charlotte Hardin;
  • Shirley Essary; and
  • Bob Scheid.
