Montee will deliver a report on the state audit and give her office’s recommendations at 7 p.m. at Springfield City Hall council chambers, 830 Boonville Ave. Montee and members of her staff also will answer questions.
Montee began an audit of the city in 2006 after receiving a citizens’ petition from more than 5,000 registered voters who questioned management of City Utilities and the city’s Police Officers’ and Firefighters’ Pension Fund. Concerns were heightened when it was announced in July 2006 that $1.3 million was missing from Springfield Municipal Court. Former court employee Rhonda Bateman pleaded guilty to felony stealing in July and is serving a 10-year prison term.
The audit examined several city departments, including finances, CU and the municipal court.[[In-content Ad]]
