Citigroup to exit US mortgage servicing operations by 2018

Citigroup Inc. plans to leave behind its U.S. mortgage business by 2018.

The company signed a deal to sell 780,000 Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans of non-Citibank retail customers to New Residential Mortgage LLC.

Any remaining mortgage servicing rights are expected to sell to Cenlar FSB in 2018.
