Cisco Systems penned a deal to buy Acacia Communications for $2.6 billion.
Employees of Acacia, which makes optical networking semiconductors, will join Cisco’s networking and security business.
David Goeckeler, executive vice president of the networking and security business, said the deal would allow Cisco "to build on the strength of our switching, routing and optical networking portfolio to address our customers’ most demanding requirements.”
