Chump change gets super rich to spill the beans

Are the opinions of the super rich worth more than the average American? Survey companies seem to think so.

Bloomberg personal finance blog Ventured & Gained reports companies are targeting high-net worth clients and paying as much as $500 for their opinions on surveys. To counter, the average Joe gets around $5.

Why the price bump? Companies, such as Spectrem Group, value the opinions of the super rich and the price tag helps those respondents value the survey. While $500 is a drop in the bucket for a multimillionaire, the company reports it seems to be working. Millionaires are talking and talking.

Steve Kraus, who runs the 13,000-respondent Ipsos Affluent Survey, told the blogger, "The hardest thing to do is to get them to start talking. The second hardest thing to get them to do is stop talking."
