The Christian County court system has made the switch to electronic filing. The implementation date is effective today.
The project - which utilizes the Missouri Electronic Filing System , the
same for Greene County - allows the county courts to accept filings from attorneys electronically, as well as manage and check the status of cases online, according to a news release.
“In making the change, we can offer attorneys extended hours of access to cases, providing them greater flexibility; reduce their costs for printing, copying and mailing; and better serve attorneys and their clients alike," Christian County Circuit Judge Mark Orr said in the release.
With the e-filing system, case documents will be stored digitally and be available through Missouri Case.net.
Christian County Circuit Clerk Barb Stillings said the initial change has a learning curve to overcome as the court system moves from paper to digital case documents.
"We ask for everyone’s patience as we become more comfortable with this new way of doing business," she said in the release.
Stillings said e-filing would ease the court system that sees, for example, as many as 1,200 criminal cases and 1,200 divorce cases annually.
