David Stokely, D-Republic, has been appointed Christian County assessor by Gov. Jay Nixon.
Stokely has worked as an agricultural and environmental consultant since 1984 and has owned and operated Stokely Farms since 1988, according to a news release from the governor's office.
“David Stokely knows this county well, both from living here and from his extensive experience operating a successful small business here,” Nixon said in the release. “I am confident he will ably serve the people of Christian County as their assessor.”
Stokely holds a master's degree in practical arts and vocational technical education and a bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri and has worked as an adjunct instructor at College of the Ozarks and Ozarks Technical Community College.
Nixon appointed Stokely after former Christian County Assessor Sandra Bryant-Littles resigned, following an early November guilty plea of mail fraud, in which she failed to assess her own property for personal property taxes.
