R.E. Smith Construction served as the contractor for the substantially complete Christian County Judicial Center, shown above in various states of progress. Located at 110 W. Elm in Ozark, the 85,000-square-foot structure has an estimated construction cost of $7.4 million. Bates & Associates Inc. is the architect for the three-story structure, which is being financed by general obligation bonds.
The judicial center houses the jail and its support staff, as well support areas such as the laundry, kitchen, intake and processing. The center also has three courtrooms and offices for the judges, the prosecuting attorney, the circuit clerk and the sheriff. The old courthouse will continue to house the treasurer's office, the Christian County Commission offices and the county clerk's office.
