Chipotle sued over GMO-free menu claims

Posted online
Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc.'s new GMO-free menu claims have lured diners and boosted the burrito chain's stock price, but it has some consumers crying foul.

According to Reuters, Californian Colleen Gallagher filed suit late last week against the company, claiming false advertising.

According to the suit, Chipotle allegedly violated the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act by claiming its foots were free of GMOs when they actually weren't.

Chipotle spokesman Chris Arnold declined to discuss the allegations, but said "we do plan to contest this."
