Chipotle sales battered by widening E. coli outbreak

An E. coli outbreak linked to Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. has hammered the burrito chain's sales.

The company announced it expects sales at established restaurants to fall 8 to 11 percent in the fourth quarter.

On Friday, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention added Illinois, Maryland and Pennsylvania to the list of states reporting illness. They joined California, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oregon and Washington.
