Chipotle removes GMO ingredients from menu

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. announced it has finished removing genetically modified ingredients from its foods, becoming the first major restaurant chain to do so amid growing U.S. consumer questions about the agricultural technology.

The 1,831-restaurant chain had been working for over two years to eliminate the use of GMOs such as corn and soybeans, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Proponents argue GMOs are safe, while critics say they can cause environmental problems or human health issues.
