Chinese factories that supply Apple Inc. and Nike Inc. have shunned workers from Xinjiang, the region in China where the country has been accused of genocide against local ethnic minorities.
Lens Technology Co., a smartphone touch screen supplier to Apple, phased out Uyghur factory workers who were transferred from Xinjiang through a state-backed labor program in 2020, according to The Wall Street Journal.
A Chinese subsidiary of Taekwang Industrial Co., which produces sneakers for Nike in the country, sent workers from Xinjiang home last year.
