Chinese automaker weighs Trumpchi name

Guangzhou Automobile Group wants to start selling cars in the United States, but it's concerned about the name of its flagship brand.

Trumpchi was intended to sound like its Chinese name, Chuanqi. A GAC spokeswoman told CNNMoney the company is doing research and consultation about whether to use the Trumpchi brand in the United States given its similarity to the president's name.

"This is a complete coincidence; we didn't even have the slightest idea he would be president," GAC Group President Feng Xingya told Reuters in January.
