China's economy slows to weakest since 2009

China's leaders apparently saw this coming, instituting stimulus measures a few months ago including two interest-rates cuts, lowering the amount banks need to have in reserve and making it easier to buy a home.
 
Looks like the stimulus measures weren't strong enough to bolster China's faltering economy. Bloomberg Business reports the nation's economy last quarter was at its weakest since 2009, with data on output, investment and retail indicating the economy will be slowing even more in the coming year.
 
The slowing economy, which analysts say requires more aggressive stimulus than the Chinese government is currently extending, is already having an effect in real time, the report states, with large industries reporting first-quarter losses and the Shanghai stock index and Asian stocks falling in recent days.
