China trade surplus with US increases

China's trade surplus with the United States rose to $17.7 billion in March from $10.4 billion in February.

During the first quarter, china's trade surplus with the United Sates was down slightly to $49.6 billion from $50.6 billion a year earlier.

At a meeting last week, President Donald Trump pressed Chinese President Xi Jinping to help reduce the gap.
