China is reportedly sanctioning a U.S. research firm and two individuals over reports of human rights abuses in the country.
Los Angeles-based research and data analytics firm Kharon, its director of investigations, Edmund Xu, and Nicole Morgret, a human rights analyst affiliated with the Center for Advanced Defense Studies, are impacted by the decision. Mao said the sanctions are in retaliation for a U.S. government report on human rights in Xinjiang.
The company and two individuals are barred from traveling to China and any property or assets they own in the country will be frozen.
