Hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, China's first-quarter gross domestic product dropped 6.8%.
That's the first economic contraction since at least 1992, when the country began releasing quarterly GDP figures.
Though it was the original epicenter of the virus, China now accounts for only 4% of the more than 2 million confirmed cases worldwide. The United States accounts for 32%.
