China plans to cut tariffs on car imports

Chinese President Xi Jinping said his government plans to "significantly lower" tariffs on vehicle imports this year.

Xi called the plans, which include other measures, "a new phase of opening up."

The pledge would satisfy one of the issues identified by President Donald Trump, who has threatened $150 billion worth of new tariffs on Chinese goods.
