China investment in US projected to hit record this year

Direct investment by China in the U.S. is on track to hit a record $30 billion in 2016, according to research firm Rhodium Group and the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.

If the figure is hit, it would double last year's record of $15 billion.

According to the report, over 1,900 Chinese-affiliated firms currently employ 90,000 full-time workers in the U.S.

One example is a Chicago skyscraper building project led by Dalian Wanda - owned by China's richest man, Wang Jianlin. The building project is expected to create 2,000 construction jobs.

Other hot industries are technology, entertainment and energy.
