China demanded that the U.S. drop an extradition request with Canada over a top executive of Huawei.
Meng Wanzhou, the Chinese tech company's chief financial officer and daughter of its founder, was arrested Dec. 1 in Canada at the request of U.S. authorities. She's accused of committing fraud by misleading banks about Huawei's Iran business dealings.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying on Tuesday said Canada’s extradition treaty with the U.S. infringed on the “safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens.”
