Child protection group receives grant

Posted online
The Missouri Foundation for Health, based in St. Louis, awarded a $98,000 grant to southwest Missouri’s Court Appointed Special Advocates.

CASA will use the funds to recruit and train volunteers for the Family Dependency Treatment Court in Greene County. The court is a judicial program that aids families battling substance abuse.

CASA volunteers will be trained to assist the court’s efforts to help children in protective custody because of parental substance abuse. Volunteers will talk to parents and work to unite children with families.

The Missouri Foundation for Health is a health care foundation that funds programs tp prevent and treat diseases and disabilities.
