The Kansas City Chiefs reached an agreement to trade quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins, ESPN reports.
The move is said to allow the Redskins to part ways with Kirk Cousins, the team's previous starting quarterback.
Smith reportedly agreed to a four-year extension with the Redskins. He'll average $23.5 million per year with $71 million in guaranteed money.
For the trade, the Chiefs will get a third-round pick and Redskins cornerback Kendall Fuller as compensation
