Four chicken industry executives were indicted on price-fixing charges.
Pilgrim’s Pride CEO Jayson Penn and former Vice President Roger Austin, as well as Claxton Poultry Farms President Mikell Fries and Vice President Scott Brady, have been charged in the alleged scheme of conspiring to fix prices on chickens sold to restaurants and grocery stores.
Tyson Foods and Sanderson Farms also are implicated in an investigation by the Justice Department, according to USA Today.
