Chase has donated $100,000 to Convoy of Hope to aid the Springfield nonprofit's tornado relief efforts in Moore, Okla.
“During disasters we like to be among the first to arrive and among the last to leave. It’s good knowing Chase shares our commitment to helping communities fully recover from disasters," Convoy of Hope President Hal Donaldson said of the U.S. consumer and commercial banking arm of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JMP), according to a news release.
According to the June 4 release, Convoy has dispatched disaster response teams and 15 tractor-trailer loads of food, water and emergency supplies to the area outside Oklahoma City hit by an EF5 tornado.
Other companies aiding Convoy's effort include:
- Bass Pro Shops, which reportedly shipped water, batteries, headlamps, jerky and ready-to-eat meals;
- Panera Bread, when donated 10 percent of sales made May 30;
- Springfield screen-printing company Greek Corner, which is donating the profits of custom Moore, Okla., T-shirts;
- Missouri State University, which has partnered with Wise Guys Printing to sell T-shirts; and
- Newk's Express Cafe and Battlefield Mall, which served as a drop-off point for supplies, solicited consumer donations and the cafe donated 10 percent of sales on May 25.
