Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce President Jim Anderson completed the Ford Foundation Fellowship for Regional Sustainable Development program hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives, according to a chamber news release.
Anderson was one of 34 regional leaders in the program. Adding the newest class, there have 120 graduates in the program's three year history, according to the
ACCE Web site.
The 12-month fellowship program is designed to foster understanding of developing competitive economies and communities in a sustainable way, according to the site.
“The fellowship allowed regional leaders, like Jim, to deepen their understanding of the policies and practices that foster inclusive long-term prosperity and enhanced quality of life," ACCE President Mick Fleming said in the release.
Anderson has served as the chamber president since 1988.
The fellowship program is funded by the Ford Foundation, a New York City-based private foundation that has distributed more than $15 billion in its 70-year history to programs for community development and social change, according to its
Web site.
