The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce has named a new manager of business development: Rob Dixon, a former executive director of the Hollister Area Chamber of Commerce.
Dixon is to be responsible for project management for economic development prospects considering new jobs and investment within the region and also will head the chamber's business retention and expansion programs as well as business attraction projects, according to a chamber news release.
Dixon is succeeding former manager Ryan Mooney and will begin his position Aug. 30, said Michelle West, chamber vice president of communications. Mooney
took on his new position of chamber vice president of business development Aug. 2. Mooney succeeded Greg Williams, who announced in early June he had accepted a job as director of the University of Missouri System Research Parks.
Dixon served as the Hollister Area Chamber of Commerce executive director from May 2008 to May 2010, West said.
From there, he took a job with the city of Hollister as the director of community and economic development, Hollister Area Chamber of Commerce Vice Chairman Jeff Gerken said.
"It was great for him," Gerken said. "The chamber was happy to see him advance."
From his position with the city of Hollister, Dixon built and implemented an economic development plan for the city, the release said.
Dixon was named as one of
Springfield Business Journal's 2009 40 Under 40 honorees.
