Chamber, Mo. Career Center to host veterans hiring fair

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and the Missouri Career Center are partnering to host an employment fair targeting veterans.

The third annual Hiring Our Heroes event is scheduled 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 20 at the University Plaza Convention Center downtown, according to a news release.

Some 50 employers from a variety of industries have signed on to exhibit at the fair, which is free for veteran seeking jobs and their spouses.

Since launching in March 2011, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Hiring Our Heroes program has helped local partners hold more than 650 job fairs for veterans. As of June 2013, more than 21,600 veterans and their spouses found employment through the program.
