Chamber explains unemployment changes at seminar

Posted online
Recent changes to Missouri’s unemployment compensation programs will be detailed at a Wednesday morning seminar at the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

Area employers are invited to the event, held 8 a.m.–noon and hosted by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry at 202 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway.

Missouri chamber officials will join unemployment specialists from across the state and guest speaker Katharine Barondeau, director of the Missouri Division of Labor and Industrial Relations, in a presentation about how reforms to the department are affecting employers.

The chamber also will discuss unemployment bills the Missouri legislature will debate in the 2006 session, and the connections between federal and state unemployment taxes and the unemployment claims process.

The cost for Missouri chamber members to attend is $69, and the cost for nonmembers is $89. Attendees may pay at the door at no extra cost.[[In-content Ad]]
