Ryan Mooney, senior vice president of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and head of its subsidiary Springfield Business Development Corp., has been named president of the Missouri Economic Development Council.
Mooney will begin a one-year term as the nonprofit's president July 1.
"I think we have a lot of great opportunities that we're going to work as a group to take advantage of," Mooney said, noting the organization lobbies in Jefferson City for economic development legislation, holds conferences for its members and hosts training and professional development exercises.
Mooney said MEDC will finalize its legislative priorities in the fall. In the latest session, MEDC focused on issues such as tax credits, business growth and job creation, and work force training programs, according to its
Web site.
The president of MEDC also holds a spot on the board of the Missouri Partnership, a public-private nonprofit under the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
“I have worked with Ryan for many years in both of his capacities—as senior vice president of economic development of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Missouri Economic Development Council,” said Missouri Partnership Board Chairman Randell Wallace, managing partner of Lathrop & Gage in Springfield, in a news release. “We are looking forward to having someone with his extensive background and front-line experience in economic development on the board of the Missouri Partnership.”[[In-content Ad]]
