The daylong program is the first of several public forums designed to inform Hispanic residents of southwest Missouri about their rights and responsibilities as citizens, and to familiarize employers and attorneys of the ever-changing laws associated with immigration, according to a chamber news release.
The forum will include three free sessions:
• “I-9 Employer Compliance: Focusing on recent changes the government has made and what the government has in store for the I-9 process” for employers, chamber members and bar association members from 11 a.m.–noon at the chamber, 202 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway.
• “Immigration 101: Introductory overview of immigration law and visas” for attorneys from 2–3 p.m. at the chamber.
• “Sus Derechos: Your Rights” for Hispanic immigrants and other interested citizens from 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Ozarks Technical Community College, Information Commons West 100, 101 E. Chestnut Expressway.
