The 17th annual award will be presented at a noon luncheon at the Oasis Convention Center.
An independent committee comprised of the chairman-elect of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, three clergy members and three community members has selected an honoree. The foundation will present the honoree with a crystal award and a $5,000 cash grant to be divided equally between the honoree and the charity of the honoree’s choice.
Earnings from an endowment fund established by Jewell Thompson Schweitzer pays for the financial award; Schweitzer is the foundation’s advisory director and a former board member.
Past honorees include Mary Beth O’Reilly, Harold Bengsch, William and Virginia Darr, and Sister Lorraine Biebel.
