Community Foundation of the Ozarks and the Greene County Senior Citizens’ Services Tax Fund Board yesterday awarded $108,491 in grants to six area nonprofits.
According to a news release, the grants were part of the Senior Issues program, an initiative created by the two organizations to fund services to improve the health, nutrition and quality of life for Greene County citizens ages 60 and older.
Grants were awarded to:
- Ozarks Area Community Action Corps, $40,500 to provide funding for operational support, health care services, and home care services such as repairs, rent, mortgage and insurance costs;
- Council of Churches of the Ozarks, $22,050 to support its programs for senior citizens;
- CoxHealth Foundation, two grants totaling $19,050 to allow Oxford HealthCare to monitor 30 Greene County Medicaid patients with 24/7 care, and to purchase cooling fans for financially challenged seniors;
- ARC of the Ozarks, $12,500 to provide services and programs for individuals with disabilities;
- Rogersville Area Senior Center Inc., $12,391 to fund facility improvements;
- Ash Grove Food Pantry, $2,000 to purchase food storage equipment and food distribution services.
The tax board was established in 2005 after county voters approved a levy of 5 cents per $100 of assessed valuation, according to the release.
