Walker was honored at a luncheon at the Oasis Convention Center. She was nominated by Junior League of Springfield and selected by an independent committee led by the chair-elect of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
Walker is noted for her involvement with Urban Districts Alliance and with rebuilding Park Central Square, and she was instrumental in bringing Founders Park and Jordan Valley Park to fruition. She has served on more than 30 national, state and local boards.
Walker also helped establish the Ozarks Health Advocacy Association Foundation and serves on its board of directors. Her community involvement has extended to Ozarks Public Television, Downtown Springfield Association, Community Health Center, Legal Aid of Southwest Missouri and Junior League of Springfield, among others.
Walker’s past recognitions include receiving the Junior League Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000 and being named one of Springfield Business Journal’s Most Influential Women in 2003.
Community Foundation of the Ozarks honored Walker with a crystal award and a $5,000 cash award, which she directed to be split equally between the Ozarks Health Advocacy Foundation Endowment Fund and the Springfield-Greene County Library Foundation Endowment Fund.[[In-content Ad]]
