Community Foundation of the Ozarks awarded $50,000 to nonprofits for the purpose of improving Springfield and Greene County through innovation and collaboration.
Part of the 2014-15 Metro Springfield Community Innovation Grant program, six organizations were selected among 10 proposals seeking $98,000, according to a news release.
Grant recipients are:
- Mercy Health Foundation, $9,858 to purchase body armor and encrypted radios for the health system’s tactical team;
- The Arc of the Ozarks, $9,104 to support a partnership with Mercy that supports families with autistic children;
- Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association’s Southwest Missouri Resource Center, $9,104 to assist foster families in Springfield through counseling and peer-to-peer support systems;
- Springfield Public Schools, $8,933 for its eLearning Department to buy laptops and bags for children of low-income households;
- Community Partnership of the Ozarks, $8,000 to support its Homeless Camp Outreach program - a partnership with the Springfield Police Department - by addressing the preventive medical needs of area homeless; and
- Ozarks Counseling Center, $5,000 to provide on-site mental health services at Robberson Elementary School.
