Health information technology firm Cerner Corp. plans to lay off 255 U.S. employees by year's end.
Roughly half of the cuts will be made in the Kansas City area.
Cerner ranked No. 1 on Kansas City Business Journal's list of the top private-sector employers, with 14,000 employees in the area as of June 1.
