Posted online
On Nov. 12, Cerner Corp. executives broke ground on a sprawling $4.45 billion office complex in south Kansas City alongside public officials including Gov. Jay Nixon and KC Mayor Sly James.

Nixon called Cerner’s seventh office complex in the area the largest economic development project in the state’s history. The 10-year project is expected to create 16,000 jobs for Cerner alone, according to the Kansas City Star.

Dubbed the Trails Campus, the project comprises 4.7 million square feet of construction and 16 buildings across the former Bannister Mall and Benjamin Plaza sites. The health care information technology company is moving forward with the help of $1.75 billion in public tax subsidies.
